Activities
The Library is associated with other social and cultural institutions, including schools, educational groups, recreational groups and those interested in promoting the arts. It also organises events, book presentations and creative activities for adults and children.
Events
The Municipal Library of Syros hosts events for the general public, in the framework of its objectives to promote reading and all manner of educational and cultural activities. The Library is a hotbed of culture, where new books are presented, events concerning poetry and poets are held, and the history, tradition and people of Syros are showcased.
Moreover, the Library has developed partnerships with social and cultural institutions (e.g., the ‘Arogi’ association for the visually impaired, the Syros International Film Festival, the AnimaSyros International Animation Festival).

Educational programmes
During educational visits of schools of all levels, educational programmes are held either in the conventional form or using modern technologies. The schools of Syros and schools from abroad participate in such events and are hosted on the island through Erasmus programmes. To date, programmes have been implemented with the participation of schools from Spain, Italy, Slovenia, and Lithuania. The actions concern reading programmes, local history projects, introductions to the Library, book-research work and guided tours.

MUNICIPAL LIBRARY OF SYROS-ERMOUPOLI
A journey through time, through interactive games
An entertaining digital application for children aged ten or older is waiting for you at the Library of Syros-Ermoupoli, so that you can become acquainted with the stately capital through the local Press. Important public works, charity events and fiestas, political developments, rebellions, and so much more that occurred in Ermoupoli from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, are crammed into newspaper columns. Leaf through the old newspapers, search through their articles, play with their advertisements, and listen to recordings of lyric theatre from a bygone era, to bring news on the arts to life.
